Woburn vs. Arlington

Thursday Night Football took a trip to Arlington on Thursday Sept. 28 when Woburn took the trip down main street to take on the Spy Ponders. The 2-1 Tanners rolled in as the favorites coming off two straight wins after a tough loss in the opener. Woburn came out of the gate hot when Co-Captain Isaiah Cashwell-Doe used a great hole from his offensive line and turned it into a huge run setting Woburn up on first and goal. Co-Captain Eri Ibrahimi punched it in for a touchdown and senior David Zyba kicked the extra point right through the uprights putting Woburn up 7-0 early. After an Arlington score and missed extra point, the game stayed at 7-6 for until the fourth quarter. Arlington scored and made a successful two point conversion to make the game 14-7. Woburn did nothing with the ensuing possession and punted the ball back to the Spy Ponders. That’s when the madness happened as Arlington fumbled and Woburn was able to take advantage for the score. After a missed extra point, the Spy Ponders scored to make the score 20-13. Woburn took back the ball and brought it to about midfield when a fumble successfully sealed the win for Arlington. The Tanners will look to bounce back with a win next week in Reading as they finish up their long road trip.
